TALIB, I S
First Comments...
Ah! A blog! A course blog!? Or as they say at the NUS :-D
, a module blog! Hmmm :-/
What does it bring?
Anyway, on a non-interrogative and more positive note, I know that a good number of students have blogs, and some of them are very good (I wish a minority of them had spent more time on their modules though!). This year, selected students’ postings on their blogs, if they are pertinent to the module (yes some students have postings that I wish had been considered as part of their CA!), can be considered as part of their ‘electronic contributions’ in their CA (this part of the CA is no longer considered ‘IVLE participation’ as more than just the IVLE may be involved). You must alert me to them, as not all blogs are efficiently indexed by search engines. Postings on how you can apply or have applied what you have learned in the course to things or activities outside the classroom are especially valued – indeed, one’s personal blog may be a better space to express these thoughts than the IVLE Forum or Chatroom: may not be anything earth-shaking here – may just be your thoughts on a song. Also, if you decide to post your essays on your blogs, and want me to read them there (yes, some students do post their essays on their blogs! – perhaps an indication of the value they attach to them), you can do so. Well, if you don’t mind me reading the comments to your essays too!
BTW, still thinking about the value of blogs for a university course… Let us see… a tool for communication between lecturer and students? Ah yes…. Hope this works for this module, both directly and indirectly... Anyway, more thoughts on this in some of my future posts….
