International Design Competition 2007 Orsaka/JDF
Deadline 22 of Oct. 2007
The Japan Design Foundation (JDF) will hold the International Design Competition 2007/JDF under its basic principle of "Design for Every Being," with its sights set on presenting visions for near-future lifestyles.
Main theme: R O B O T 2
Sub-theme1: For GAIA
With this subtheme, we look forward to design proposals that can help cope with and resolve various issues, such as global warming, environmental pollution, alternative energy and population and food problems.
The Gaia theory was put forth by Dr. J. E. Lovelock and colleagues, who were involved in NASA's Mars exploration program. The theory hypothesizes that the Earth exists as a green life form, on which all fauna and flora, including humans, maintain harmonious relationships with each other. The theory is named after the Greek Earth Goddess "Gaia," defining the Earth as a single life form.
Sub-theme 2: For Social Places
With this subtheme, we expect to receive design proposals for resolving safety/security and transportation problems arising in the relationship between humans and society, particularly from the perspective of universal design.
Sub-theme 3: For Individual Areas
There are also various issues pertaining in individual livelihoods and daily life. With this subtheme, we seek design proposals to realize fun and fulfilling lives comprising communications with other people, good health and self-actualization.
