Overcoming Barriers to Creativity

The Creative Group recently published a paper on Designophy and stated that "eight out of 10 in-house designers said it's difficult to convince senior management to accept ideas that deviate from the prevailing corporate style."  In addtion, "eight out of 10 in-house designers said it's difficult to convince senior management to accept ideas that deviate from the prevailing corporate style."  They suggested seven strategies for overcoming challenges and enhancing creative freedom:

  1. Design is not just 'window dressing.'
  2. Work on your soft skills.
  3. Educate and enlighten. 
  4. Build your case.
  5. Give examples
  6. Avoid jargon.
  7. Show you're a winner.
