How do I create a module blog?

In the IVLE workspace, click Module Blogs under Resources. You will see the Module Blogs page, showing the blogs that you can create and the ones you have already created.

The blogs that you can create are in the drop-list. Choose the desired module and click Create to create a blog for that module.

I don’t see some of my modules in the module creation drop-down list. Why is this?

There are two possible reasons for this:

  1. The module blog has already been created by another lecturer. This is possible because a module blog is shared among all the lecturers who teach a particular module.
  2. The module does not have an official module code. If this is the case, you cannot create a module blog. However, if you have an unlisted module and wish to have a corresponding module blog, please let us know (email?)

How many module blogs can I create?

You can create one module blog per module. This is shared among all lecturers teaching the module. You may want to create a tag to differentiate posts from different lecturers/tutors. In any case, your ID is displayed on your posts.

Who can read the module blog?

Everyone, even non-NUS users, can read the module blog.

Who can comment on the module blog?

Only users with a NUSNET user ID and password may comment on the blog posts. In order to comment, you need to log in.

Who can create posts on the module blog?

Only lecturers may write blog posts for their respective module blogs. Students who wish to respond at length to your blog posts can do so in their own personal blogs, linking back to the relevant post via the permalink.

What can I do with the module blog?

You can…

  • Ponder on questions and issues that were unanswered or that deserved further discussion outside of lecture/tutorial
  • Get students to think about issues, and adding their comments on the blog posts or reflecting further in their own blogs.
  • Post the latest updates and developments regarding topics in your module
