Blogging using NUS Module Blogs
How do I access the module blog?
Assuming the module blog has been created, you can access it:
- Directly via the URL in this format: http://moduleblog.nus.edu.sg/blogs/yourmodulecode/default.aspx
- Via IVLE’s Module Blog page. The page displays links to the module blogs that you can post to. You can also Browse all module blogs from that page.
You can also bookmark (add to Favorites) the URL on your web browser and the IVLE module bookmarks.
How do I create an entry in my module blog?
From your module blog, click Write a Blog Post under Common Tasks.
I have posted but my post hasn’t appeared on my blog. Why is this?
The post takes a while to appear on the blog as the blog’s cache has to refresh.
Can I add images to blog posts?
Yes, you can add photos that are legally hosted elsewhere – please do not hotlink to images for which you do not have permission – to your blog post. Switch to the HTML text field editor to add the image like you would in a website.
How do I add links?
From the Write a Blog Post page:
- Write the text for your link in the text box
- Highlight the text
- Click
(Create link)
- Add the URL and click OK
I teach the module along with other lecturers. Can they post too?
Yes, once a module blog is created for the module, all academic staff for that module can post to the blog.
What is my module blog’s URL?
http://moduleblog.nus.edu.sg/blogs/modulecode/default.aspx
This is assuming you have already created a blog. For convenience, you should bookmark it and encourage your students to do so too. If you haven’t created the module blog, please create it from IVLE first.
How can I keep track of new comments?
You can subscribe to the email subscriptions. Click Email Alerts on your blog. You can then choose to be updated via email about the latest activity on your blog.
Can I run a collaborative class blog?
Our blog software is not set up to run collaborative class blogs (i.e. all users can create posts). If you are really keen, please use any of the free blogging software providers which are available to the public. You can try Blogger, TypePad or WordPress.
I am using a Mac. Can I access the module blogs?
Yes. We have accessed the module blogs using Camino, Safari and Firefox on a MacBook Pro.
I am at home and I want to post an entry/a comment. Can I do this?
Yes, just visit your blog, log in using your NUSNET user ID and password, then comment.
